"Final Burn" Afterburner 2 emulator released | |
New emulator will lead to the emulation of other Sega games
An Afterburner 1&2 arcade emulator called "Final Burn" has been released for windows PC's. The new emulator runs at full speed and with excellent sound. Afterburner is currently within the Mame source code but is disabled as emulating a maths chip of the hardware was proving difficult for programmers. The new Afterburner emulator can also run some other games that use the same hardware, such as Sega's Thunderblade. Sega's most closely related hardware to the Afterburner hardware is called the Galaxy force hardware. Many people are hopeful that the Galaxy force hardware will be the next to be emulated, allowing players to experience Power Drift, another Sega classic.
